Calibration Example

Steps to Calibrate an Axis

To calibrate an axis, follow the steps below:

  1. Selecting the Axis:

    • First, choose the axis you want to calibrate from the Axis section. Then, move the axis slowly to verify the correct direction of movement. If the direction is incorrect, select the proper one from the Direction section. Next, move the axis toward one of its movement limits. For this method, it doesn’t matter which end is used as the starting point.
  2. Setting the Start Point:

    • After positioning the axis appropriately, measure a point on the axis relative to a fixed reference point on the machine using a suitable measuring tool, and record it in the Location 1 field. Then press the Start button. The measurement unit is entirely up to your preference. The device can be calibrated using inches, meters, centimeters, millimeters, or even micrometers. Just remember to use the same unit consistently throughout the calibration process.
  3. Setting the End Point:

    • Move the axis toward the opposite end. If it's possible to perform measurements over longer distances and your measuring tool is accurate enough, longer distance measurements will yield more accurate results. Once the axis reaches the second point, measure it in the same way as the first point using the machine's fixed reference, and record it in the Location 2 field. Then press the Calibrate button. The software will use these measurements to calculate the step or calibration coefficient and automatically save it to the selected interface. You can repeat this calibration process for each axis as needed.
